Casual Friday OOTD

As of right now, these classy gray Madewell jeans are 40% off with code DOUBLEYAY and the blazer is 40% off at Loft. The gray jeans match so well with the gray blazer for a casual but still professional look. I have linked everything below the picture so make sure to take a look!

Lastly, if you are willing to invest a little extra in a great pair of shoes, I highly recommend these Tory Burch wedges. Not only they are SUPER comfortable but you can dress them up or down. I wear them all the time and have them in a couple different colors.

Don’t forget tomorrow Jan 26 is “Natural Green Juice” day! If you want the recipe to my go to green mix, check it out by clicking here.

Until later!

Light & Cropped Thermal Top

This cropped thermal top is lightweight and soft to the touch. What I love most about it is that I can pair it with high waist jeans and still get the cropped look while covering the torso. Check out the details below to shop for the look.

Did you know that today is house plant appreciation day? The timing could not be more perfect. The holidays are over, the Christmas decorations are put away and the house suddenly looks empty…but WAIT, what’s that in the corner of the office!?! It’s a house plant! How convenient is that?! Today is the day to get back to tending your lovely plants. Not only they are known to be uplifting but gardening is also considered to be therapeutic. Just make sure they get a little sunlight, water and lots of love!

2019 New Year’s Resolutions…Again!

I LOVE writing down my goals for the new year! I personally get inspired by the energy of the holiday season and get excited at the idea of getting my 2019 New Year’s resolutions in order.

So…as I promised on a recent post, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2019,  here is an abbreviated list of my “measurable” goals for this year!

Relationships – It’s all about love!

  • Nurture the family and friends that I have today.  Reach out weekly.

  • Visit a new country.  Great Value Vacations has some awesome deals!
  • Visit a new US city.

  • Pay 20% towards mortgage principal.
  • Only eat out twice a week unless traveling.

  • Intentional network at least once a month.
  • Become more present in social media.
  • Post on the Sensational Chick blog twice a week.
  • Evaluate other career opportunities.

Self improvement – Never stop learning!

  • Read at least one book a month.  Stretch is 4 books a month.
  • Continue weekly piano lessons.
  • Say sorry faster!
  • Stop searching for perfection, instead give yourself grace when imperfect.
  • Smile more! 🙂

I think I am done, and that’s plenty! Thank you for reading and I hope some of these goals resonated with you and perhaps you can apply them on your end. Make sure to write them down, even if we are well into the year by the time you read this.  It’s never late to start becoming a better version of yourself!

July Goals: Catch Up Month..Yikes.

So here is the thing about goals…LIFE HAPPENS and more often than not we need to learn how to be gentle with ourselves so we are motivated to pick up where we left and move forward.  With that said, I’m going to need to revisit my June goals and evaluate what still needs to be done…that’s why this is my catch up month ;).  Below are the goals that I posted last month.  I am really committed to do better in July…let’s do it!

  • Read “How Women Rise” by Sally Helgesen & Marshal Goldsmith. I really want to read this book in July so let’s keep this one.
  • Network with at least 3 people at my job that can guide me in professional advancement interests.  Done!
  • Inspire and engage my team by generating weekly material regarding development.  Done!  I will continue to do this but no need to document here anymore.

Health & Fitness:

  • Log at least 45 miles.  That would be an improvement when compared to May (39 miles)
  • Yoga once a week
  • Daily calorie count in the sprit of being self aware
  • Try three new healthy recipes

  • Clean up MINT app so that I can properly track expenses
  • Revisit 401K contributions. 401K contributions are maxed out for the rest of the year…so happy that I am back on track after going through the home purchase.
  • Make a budget I can stick to for the rest of the year.
  • Plan a budget-friendly trip

  • Meditate at least three times a week for 15 minutes
  • Spend time with the Lord every morning
  • Finish lesson 3 & 4 of Proverbs Bible study

  • Visit grandma every weekend
  • Make dad’s feel special on Father’s Day! Had a beautiful day with my uncle and reached out to many dad’s.
  • Attend my best friend’s kids birthday parties
  • Reach out to two close friends that I have lost contact with recently
  • Invite Nancy and Dana to see my new house

Self development:

  • Be able to play Wayfaring Stranger in the piano
  • Improve blogging skills by posting 3 times a week
  • Finish photography lesson..

I’m really looking forward to July and making some of these happen, wish me luck!  What about you?  Do you set up goals for yourself on a regular basis?  Are you gentle with yourself when you don’t?  I hope you are!

Looking forward to your comments and until next time!

My First Green Juice!

So I decided to give it a try.  While I never doubted all the health benefits associated with juicing such as an increase in energy levels, weight loss and building immunity, I had still to make one.  For some odd reason I thought I had to be a well known and proclaimed celebrity juicer with a secret recipe and sophisticated blender.  Now that I look back, I realize that I was just making excuses for myself so if you are in a similar boat, I am going to make it really simple for you.  Here we go:

  1. Ingredients: 8 ounces of water (you can substitute with almond milk for a creamier version), kale, cucumber, spinach, green apple lemon, and ginger (ginger paste will also work).  Feel free to use the amounts of each ingredient that works best for your tastebuds as long as you are properly balancing them all.

Spinach, cucumber, kale, green apple, lemon, and ginger
  2. Mix it all in a blender: No need for a super duper blender. This affordable Black and Decker one will work just fine.  I bought mine at Amazon, click here if you want to take a look.

3.   Green Juice..Check!  And there you have it.  A simple and delicious green juice that will help you feel more energized throughout the day.  Personally, I love it the most when I mix it with almond milk although mixing it with water will still give you a tasty lighter version of the juice.

Yummy green juice, enjoy!

Can’t wait to here your thoughts and insights on additional recipes that you might have.  Don’t hesitate to leave a comment as I want to try other versions.

Have a sensational day and until next time!

Embracing Change Through the Power of Optimism

glass-300558_1280Have you ever met a pessimist that is open to new ideas?  I haven’t.  That’s what led me to reflect on the impact of optimism in the workplace this week.  When I say optimism, I am not talking about “wishful thinking” but a personal choice to focus on the best possible outcome even after acknowledging the not so good.  Either way, change is never easy.

I a am a leader for a  company ranked in the Top 50 of the Fortune Magazine and as you can imagine, change is the norm! When “change is the only constant in life” is probably best that we learn how to embrace it and what better way than cultivating an optimistic outlook.

According to Inc Magazine, many of the issues business leaders struggle with, including personal – professional balance, get easier when we approach them with optimism.  Personally, I believe it so I am extending the right to each one of you to call me out on it if I ever sound like a Debbie Downer!

Click here for the link to the Forbes article that inspired me to write this note in the spirit of self-development.  In summary:

  1. Optimists start businesses. They see opportunity when others see uncertainty!
  2. Optimists are inspiring communicators. They are often very charismatic.
  3. Optimists rally people to a better future. They are always excited about it!
  4. Optimists see the big picture. They see beyond their most recent experience.
  5. Optimists elicit super human effort. Who doesn’t like a super hero reference!?

I hope you enjoy the article and feel free to email me directly if you have topics that you would like to learn more about.

Until next time!

I got a puppy!

IMG_5442It is official!  I am the proud owner of an 8 week tiny Boston Terrier puppy!  I am beyond excited and loving every minute of it, even those precious minutes that add up to hours in the middle of the night.  Yes…she whines non stop and wants tons of attention but I am here to give it 🙂

For many years I considered getting a dog.  I’ve had two beautiful kitties for over 12 years and I always thought that getting one would interfere with my work (I travel a lot) and limit my flexibility but I finally realized that I kept on making excuses for myself.  Yes, she comes with work, but she also comes with love, kisses, joy, laughs, and sweetness.  Her name is Boston and so far the kitties are ignoring her.  I hear that they will adjust to each other just fine since the puppy was introduced to them at a really young age.

Now I keep on wondering why did I wait so long to get a puppy?!  She brings so much happiness to my life that I wish I would have done it earlier.  Are you also thinking of getting a puppy?  I want to hear all about it!  Leave a comment or even better share a picture!  Not sure if we can share pictures on the comment section of WordPress that wouldn’t that be fun? 😉
